We brainstormed some slightly passive aggressive motivational sayings.
Grow a pair
Don’t be upset
Stop it
Just do it
Get it together
Stop drinking
That won’t help
Get out of bed
Do your work
Stop complaining
Get a grip
don’t be a bitch
Just shut up about it
Stop procrastinating
Are you really trying?
Do it anyways
Get of your ass
Are you really ill?
The Key to happiness s low expectations
lower.
Nope, even lower.
there you go
Suck it up
Do it anyway
I made a simple desition in using an existing typeface because how versatile the type is to be on the poster. also with the amout the work that is put into each card it would take ages if not.
I made a simple desition in using an existing typeface because how versatile the type is to be on the poster. also with the amout the work that is put into each card it would take ages if not.
the layout of the poster is purely based on placing the cards the poster is divided into the two sections the fun part is that the divide is opposite to the layout of the logotype.
The poster is made up by individual cards in order to have the design showcase that there are individual cards it is laid out like a chess board with every other being a solid colour.
In the research, it was obvious that most motivational quotes have a definitive feminine touch to it. So in this task, there was put in a conscious desition to have it less frilly and a bit blunter.
The cards had to be cohesive yet different, in order to have a create a consistent visual effect to the cards they all use the same typeface, Gotham. this typeface was chosen because it has a contemporary shape that has a blunt personality in that it is unapologetic in its edges.
The cards went through slight development in that there was made two iterations of the cards to find how to illustrate what they say. So in the case of the get a grip card the visual impact is derived from literally having the type being griped together. Ignorer to make it more readable the straight one was picked as the angled one is a bit too warped and busy. With the stop procrastination card, the aim was to make it difficult to read as to force the reader to use more time and therefore procrastinating. The poster is not to take itself too seriously so the visual outcome consists of us din knocking out, large tracking and kerning and large contrasts. The balance of the busy cards to the minimal ones makes sure that the poster is not too overpowering.
