Why would you recommend 'The Girl Chewing Gum' to an aspiring graphic designer?
Someone shoed it to her in first year graphics
Did not cost much
Quick stylish looks great not too complicated
Humour style wit a small budget
It is funny

How did you find graduating uni and going in to a creative field of work?
very scary
finishing graphic design
rubbish
did not want to work with graphic design
its nice that
could not design but liked the visuals she enjoyed design
could work with it without being good
enthusiasm propelled her.

Could not make it look nice, but writing was easier

Have not used InDesign since last days of uni.
Process went from overwhelmed to just write stuff
Only having one thing you had to be good at.

You stated in a podcast for Stacks that you felt lonely doing freelance work; what is it about working with others that you enjoy so much?
No one to hang out with
No one should have to do freelance
Nothing coming in from other sources come in to your life
No one to help you to move on
Do not talk to people
Need socialism
Every one needs a job within

What influence has music had on your work and did working for Rough Trade change this?
Yes, she thought she knew everything about music, but she found out that she did not know mush of music.
She has tried to be cool
Pop music is happiness
Create silly funny things, ei magazines
She is not a journalist, silly questions
World is coming to a swift end
Try to make a new magazine, about fun stories, about useless stories

How did you decide to focus on writing & direction rather than visual design?
Genially could not do the visual stuff
Illustration, really good at drawing, but chose graphic design
Did not have an interest graphic design
Illustration was not an option



Did you find it was harder to promote a music magazine that didn't feature the artist on the cover?
- How did it affect Rough Trade's acceptance?
It means that it is more open to anyone,
When you don’t know the cover page you might
Not necessarily a music magazine
Did not try to go big.
Rough trade changes thru out its life, feminism, books, music and more
Did you find you had to change any part of your creative process when switching from designing a music magazine to a 'smart magazine for women'?
Rugh trade commition pages
Was not as propper

Ask about the future not the past.

 If you were able to talk to your past self what would you tell them?
Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing
Everyone ends up with what they can do
Do not get drunk at work events
Have faith in yourself
