Workshop with Charlie Sheppard

with this workshop, we got handed a high street brand to create a storefront for. I and Bradley got Paul Smith’s umbrella with a fun pattern underneath a normal umbrella. This task required a lot of refining, at first we just created a lot of sketches to generate different ways of communicating with the target demographic. This display is for men in their 30s to 40s as is Paul smiths main demographic, but it is made to attract a slightly broader audience, this storefront is interactive as you can put yourselves into it.

The initial idea was a bit all over the place but we honed into a rain based one that had some whimsey and would create an interesting interpretation of Pauls Smiths famous pattern.

This idea is based on depth and the whimsey after 5pm, as this umbrella is business in the front party in the back. from 9am till 5pm the store is just showcasing the effect of a normal umbrella, you can not even see it. after work, the umbrella tilts and you can see a deconstructed disco ball that reflect the light and create a party feel with the rainbow lights.
